We have an opening for a Day Shift Local Truck Driver - Distribution Center.


Summary

Safely operates forklift and tractor/trailer on Company grounds and in the local area.

    

Duties and Responsibilities

Primary Duty – Local Truck Driver

Operates tractor/trailer.

    

Secondary Duty – Material Handler

Operates a forklift to load, unload, move product to various locations and stacks material.

   

Before operating, checks to assure tractor and trailer are in safe operating condition. Informs supervisor of problems and/or maintenance as needed.

  

Safely operates tractor and trailer units to transport finished goods, packaging materials, and pallets between the Company production facility, distribution center, and outside warehouses.

   

Spots delivery trailers at Company warehouse and chocks wheels.

  

Completes required paperwork.

   

Keeps tractor and trailer in neat and clean condition.  

   

Follows safety rules and company policies.

   

Other duties

Participates in training, employee meetings, committees, project teams, etc. as appropriate.

    

Receives written or verbal instructions from supervisor on above tasks and performs other work as directed by supervisor.



Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

High school plus additional training preferred. Math skills include addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and fractions. Ability to speak, read and write in English needed for job tasks. Must have current Commercial Driver's License and be DOT approved. Certified forklift operator.    

    

Supervisory Responsibilities

None.

    

Machines, Equipment, Tools Used

Tractor, Trailer, Forklift, Trailer Jack, Air Hose.

   

Physical Demands

Climbing: Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Body agility is emphasized. This factor is important if the amount and kind of climbing required exceeds that required for ordinary locomotion.

   

Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.

   

Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a high position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles.

   

Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.

   

Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.

   

Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make fine discriminations in sound.

   

Repetitive Motions: Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands and/or fingers.

   

Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is related for light work.

   

The worker is required to have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles.

   

The worker is required to have eye/hand/foot coordination to operate forklift.

    

Work Environment

Works outside a significant portion of the day, subject to wide seasonal temperature variations and intermittent wetness from rain. Some contact with dust, ink, oil, and grease. Operates Company vehicles on public highways, on a regular basis.
