JOB PURPOSE:

The CDL Driver is responsible for ensuring the safe and timely delivery of solar panels and related equipment to various distribution centers, job sites, and customers. This role plays a critical part in the supply chain by ensuring that products arrive in perfect condition, supporting the installation and operational timelines of solar energy projects. The driver will maintain high standards of safety, efficiency, and customer service while representing the company professionally on the road and at delivery points.


This is a full-time (40 hours a week) position, that will work 8am - 5pm, M-F. Home every night!

  • The hourly rate for this position is $28-$30 per hour.  Actual compensation on this range varies based on a variety of non-discriminatory factors, including location, job level, prior experience, and skill set.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for maintaining Electronic Driver Logs and completing Pre-Trip Inspections and Post-Trip inspections of the vehicle.
  • Knowledgeable regarding all company products and services.
  • Responsible for maintaining Electronic Driver Logs and completing Pre-Trip Inspections and Post-Trip inspections of the vehicle.
  • CDL drivers are subject to DOT random drug and alcohol tests. 
  • Provides quality service to customers using clear communication skills when unloading the material at the point of delivery.
  • Loads the truck and inspects the loaded truck for accuracy of order, compliance with weight restrictions, and proper securing of load.
  • Maintains accurate records for submission to the Fleet Department.
  • Ensures safety of vehicle; reports all mechanical problems promptly to the Fleet Department.
  • Ensures safety and proper performance on company property, job site, and in transit.
  • Consistently uses proper safety gear, including hard hats and steel toe shoes.
  • Addresses property-damage or personal injury occurrences immediately, including calling for medical attention, as needed.
  • Performs warehouse duties including picking, packing, and shipping, as needed.
  • Utilizes warehouse forklifts for moving inventory.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Use of a Truck Mounted Forklift (TMF) is required.
  • 2 years experience driving for the equipment they’re being hired for. (Combination vehicle with flatbed and TMF)
  • Proficiency in DOT legal strapping requirements.
  • Basic comprehension of the English language required (Ability to read and write)  
  • Highly organized and self-directed. 
  • High level of customer service. 
  • Good listening, reading, verbal and written communication skills.   
  • Adept at problem solving, high attention to detail, and time management.  
  • Proficient math skills to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure. 
  • Ability to communicate and build associations with all levels within the organization. 
  • Basic technical skills for data entry, internal/external communications, etc.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • A valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License and DOT Medical Card are required.
  • Forklift Training/Certification; Certification is a plus.
  • Truck Mounted Forklift Training/Certification.
  • Knowledge of the Samsara software for maintaining Electronic Drivers Logs, Pre and Post Trip Inspections is a bonus.
  • Satisfactory driving record per company policy.
  • Must pass all DOT requirements including physical examination and drug screen.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is:  

  • Regularly required to sit, talk, use repetitive motion, and hear. 
  • Able to move 2,500 lbs with a pallet jack.
  • Occasionally required to bend, kneel, crouch, climb stairs, and reach overhead. 
  • Occasionally and repeatedly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Up to 150 pounds with team lift.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

 

SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS:

  • None

 

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Willing to travel between 5% to 10% of the time.
